The Cyan 800-0139-01 WSS-F4 (HECI/CLEI: WOCUA3XVAA) is a Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) module for the Cyan Z-Series Packet-Optical Platforms, including the Z33 and Z77. Since Ciena acquired Cyan, Ciena now supports the Z-Series as part of its portfolio. Specifically, the WSS-F4 supports 4-degree ROADM nodes with up to 96 DWDM channels. As a result, operators control which wavelengths they add, drop, or pass through at each site.
In addition, the WSS-F4 works with the OFX-4 module to interconnect up to four WSS-F4 cards. It also pairs with the passive AWG-96 optical multiplexer to save slots. Consequently, carriers can build North/South/East/West mesh and multi-ring nodes. Moreover, they can route wavelengths remotely, without truck rolls or manual patching.
Furthermore, operators activate channel capacity through Right-to-Use (RTU) licenses in blocks: channels 1–8, 9–16, 17–40, and 41–96. Therefore, networks can start small and then scale as traffic grows, without replacing hardware.
The WSS-F4 sits between the 2-degree WSS-F2 (800-0136-01) and the 8-degree WSS-F8 (800-0140-01). For this reason, it makes a strong fit for mid-size ROADM sites. Likewise, it serves as a reliable spare for deployed Z-Series networks.
Best of all, Telecom Leasing offers the WSS-F4 for lease or purchase, so you can keep Z-Series infrastructure running and growing.
In short, it’s the WSS-F4, a 4-degree, 96-channel Wavelength Selective Switch module for the Cyan/Ciena Z33 and Z77 platforms.
Essentially, they’re the 2-, 4-, and 8-degree versions of the Z-Series WSS. Therefore, choose based on how many fiber directions your node needs.
Ciena RTU licenses enable channels in blocks: 1–8, 9–16, 17–40, and 41–96. As a result, you only pay for the capacity you use.
