The Cyan PSW-618 (part numbers 800-0123-01 and 800-0123-02; HECI/CLEI: WOCUA3VVAA, WOCUA1FVAA) is a Packet Switching Module for the Cyan Z-Series Packet-Optical Platforms, including the Z33 and Z77. Since Ciena acquired Cyan, Ciena now supports the Z-Series as part of its portfolio. Specifically, the PSW-618 provides six 10GbE SFP+ ports and eighteen GbE SFP ports. As a result, it aggregates a wide mix of Ethernet services on a single card.
In addition, the PSW-618 delivers non-blocking, line-rate switching across all 24 ports at the same time. Consequently, operators get predictable performance even under heavy traffic. Moreover, because every port uses pluggable SFP or SFP+ optics, operators can match each port to the reach and media they need.
Furthermore, the PSW-618 supports Connection-Oriented Ethernet (COE) with granular traffic management. Likewise, it offers optional OTN mapping with Forward Error Correction (FEC). Therefore, packet transport over optical networks becomes more efficient and predictable than traditional router-based designs.
For these reasons, the PSW-618 is a strong fit for Carrier Ethernet aggregation, business and mobile backhaul, and spares for deployed Z-Series networks. In addition, on the Z77 it can pair with the XC-2800 switch fabric for higher-capacity configurations. By comparison, the PME-216i (800-0058-01) offers a smaller packet multiplexer option with two 10G XFP ports and sixteen GbE SFP ports.
Best of all, Telecom Leasing offers the PSW-618 for lease or purchase, so you can keep Z-Series packet networks running and growing.
In short, it’s a Z-Series Packet Switching Module with six 10GbE SFP+ ports and eighteen GbE SFP ports for the Cyan/Ciena Z33 and Z77.
Both part numbers are the PSW-618 with the same description. However, the -02 is a later revision, so confirm compatibility with your system’s software release before mixing revisions.
